Job Description
The Software Engineer position entails active involvement across the entire development lifecycle within an agile environment. The role necessitates proficiency in diverse technologies, emphasizing the development of software and tools for the realms of DevOps and Automation.
Responsibilities
Ensures the production of code and documentation upholds the highest standards, adhering to established or agreed-upon norms. Advocates for this consistency among all team members.
Collaborates closely with application teams, assisting in the resolution of issues related to the CICD pipeline.
Delivers realistic and accurate estimates, consistently achieving on-time project completion.
Participates in design and code review sessions, providing mentorship to fellow engineers.
Contributes to epic-level planning and formulates user stories.
Effectively communicates issues, risks, and concerns to team leads or managers.
Develops competencies in both product and technology domains, establishing expectations.
Adheres to Pearson processes and agile practices, fostering compliance within the team.
Optimizes the use of engineering tools and technologies for sustained high productivity.
Aligns personal objectives with organizational goals.
Upholds Pearson values and ethical practices.
Demonstrates individuality in thinking and decision-making.
Maintains a professional demeanour in work-related aspects and interactions with others.
Competencies, Proficiencies, and Capabilities
Outstanding proficiency in Python development, encompassing Object-Oriented Programming and Unit testing.
Strong technical acumen and hands-on expertise in Bash scripting.
Comprehensive understanding and hands-on involvement with AWS Cloud services, including but not limited to Ec2, ECS, ELB, Route53, VPC, Cloudfront, and other related services.
Practical experience with Terraform.
Demonstrated expertise in constructing and maintaining CICD pipelines, with a preference for GitLab.
Sound comprehension of Architectural and Design patterns for both applications and cloud infrastructure.
Collaborative team player with robust and effective interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating the ability to engage promptly and professionally with teams spanning different time zones.
Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS would be advantageous.
Hands-on experience with Relational Databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
Foundational knowledge of Linux.
Proven experience in translating Business requirements into Epics and User stories.
A solid grasp of Agile principles.
